Vials and pens use the same stock engine. Link the exact pen or vial from the Stack. Completed dose logs reduce manual stock automatically. For schedule-calculated stock, PepSlate can instead derive the balance from the start date plus the explicitly linked protocol dose and frequency; Done/Skip logs override the schedule assumption.

Enter the original/nominal contents, the real date you started using it, link it to the matching Stack entry and enable Auto-calculate remaining from linked protocol. Why no built-in PepSlate stacking guide? A static in-app guide would go stale and could be mistaken for a treatment recommendation. Linking to current, source-cited references keeps PepSlate focused on tracking and arithmetic while letting users inspect the evidence directly.

PepSlate Quick Start

Plain-English help. Open a step, follow the clicks, then jump straight to that part of the app.

New to PepSlate? Start with steps 1–3. You enter the schedule you already want to record; PepSlate organises and logs it but does not choose doses or protocols for you.

1Set up your first stackStack → + Add → enter your own schedule → Save

Tap Stack.
Tap + Add.
Enter the compound name, your own dose/unit, schedule and start date.
If you already have the pen or vial in PepSlate, link it here. If not, you can add stock next.
Tap Save.

Example: You already know the routine you want to record. Enter that routine exactly as you use it; PepSlate then puts the due dates into Today and Calendar.

2Add and link a pen or vialStock → + Add stock → choose Pen/Vial → enter contents → Save

Tap Stock.
Tap + Add stock.
Choose Pen or Vial. For a pen, choose reusable/replaceable cartridge or disposable pen if known.
Enter the original/nominal contents (the full amount it contained when new), the unit and the real opened/start date.
If you want PepSlate to work out the expected balance from your schedule, enable Auto-calculate remaining from linked protocol.
Save it, then make sure the matching Stack entry points to that exact item.

Why link it? The exact stock link tells PepSlate which pen/vial a dose belongs to, so remaining stock and replacement history stay with the correct item.

2AAlready part-way through a pen or vial?Original contents + real start date → link it → Auto-calculate

No problem — PepSlate can pick up mid-way through. You do not have to start tracking with a brand-new pen or vial.

Make sure the matching Stack entry contains the dose and schedule you have actually been using.
In Stock, add the pen/vial and enter its original/nominal contents, not your guess at what is left.
Enter the real date you started using that pen/vial.
Enable Auto-calculate remaining from linked protocol.
Link that stock item to the matching Stack entry.
PepSlate uses the start date, linked dose and frequency to calculate the expected amount remaining now. A logged Skip prevents that dose being deducted; a logged Done records the actual stock use.

Example: A pen originally contained 20 mg and your linked Stack records 2 mg per scheduled dose. If five scheduled doses have passed since the pen's start date, PepSlate's expected balance is 10 mg remaining.

It is an expected balance, not a physical measurement. If what is actually left is different, open that stock item and use Adjust stock. With Auto-calculate left on, the adjustment acts as a real-world calibration while PepSlate continues following the schedule afterwards.

3Log a dose todayToday → find the due item → Done or Skip

Tap Today.
Find the item that is due.
Tap Done when you want to record it as completed, or Skip when it was not taken.

A logged Done/Skip overrides PepSlate's schedule assumption for that date.

4Log or check an earlier dayCalendar → tap the date → Done / Skip / review

Tap Calendar.
Tap the date you want.
The Day View shows what was scheduled and what was logged. Use Done or Skip to correct a missed log.

5Change a routine without losing historyStack → Change protocol → choose effective date → Create revision

Use Change protocol when the routine genuinely changes. PepSlate keeps the earlier version in history and starts the new version from the effective date.

Example: Your recorded frequency changes next Monday. Open the existing Stack item, tap Change protocol, enter the new schedule and Monday as the effective date. Do not create a second duplicate stack.

6Correct a mistakeStack/Stock → Correct entry → fix the typo → Save correction

Use Correct entry for a typo or setup mistake. It fixes that record in place instead of pretending the mistake was a real historical change.

Simple rule: Real-world change = Change protocol. Typo/setup mistake = Correct entry.

7Start the next vial / replace a pen or cartridgeStock → open current item → Next vial / Replace pen / Replace cartridge

Go to Stock.
Find the current item.
Tap Next vial, Replace pen or Replace cartridge.
Enter the new item's details and its start date.
Save the replacement.

This moves the stock source from the old item to the new one without restarting your existing stack/cycle or rewriting earlier history.

8Move PepSlate to a new phone or computerOld device: Export JSON → New device: Import → Restore purchase if Pro

On the old device:

Tap More.
Under Backup & restore, tap Export JSON.
Save/send that backup file to the new device using Files, Drive, iCloud, email or another method you trust.

On the new device:

Open PepSlate and go to More.
Under Backup & restore, tap Import and select your exported PepSlate JSON file.
Confirm the restore. Your local stacks, logs, stock, notes and history are transferred.
If you have Pro, tap Restore purchase and enter the checkout email + PepSlate Pro key.

Important: PepSlate is local-first, so tracker records do not silently sync through a PepSlate cloud account. The JSON backup is the deliberate transfer method.

9Back up your recordsMore → Backup & restore → Export JSON

Export a backup occasionally, and especially before changing phones or permanently deleting finished records. Keep the JSON somewhere you control.

10Privacy and PepSlate ProLocal tracker records + separate Pro licence restore

Your tracker records are stored locally on the device. PepSlate does not require a tracker account for your stacks and logs. A Pro purchase/licence is separate from your tracker backup.

Keep your PepSlate Pro key somewhere safe. It is used with the checkout email to restore Pro on another device.

PepSlate is a personal record-keeping tool. It does not provide dosing recommendations or medical advice.

11Use the concentration & draw calculatorMore → Calculator → enter your own values → Calculate

The calculator does not choose a dose. Enter the amount in your vial/pen, the total liquid volume and the dose you already intend to use. PepSlate returns concentration, draw volume, U-100 syringe markings and approximate doses available.

Use Use my stock to prefill amount, unit and liquid volume from an existing stock item. mg and mcg can convert; IU/units are never guessed against mass units.

PepSlate links to free external resources for peptide categories, mechanisms, research summaries and evidence context rather than publishing its own treatment or stacking advice.
